paintings

Painting is a strange movement from the physicality of sculptural work that I am generally engaged in. It is boundless in the sense that the laws of physics, the rules of materiality, the physical world writ-large, all ceases to matter. I have come to see painting and image making in as a way for me to detach myself from the problematics of the real and examine ideas, objects, images, and people in a context that can function as a reflector that can simultaneously purport truth and twist perception beyond physical limitations in the same breath.

what happens when the cudgel of inanity is directed towards the mundane? When documentation culture eats its own tail? When novelty dwarfs substance?

These were some of the questions that I had in mind when building a tool to photograph the moment of impact of a drop of water falling into a steel can, ad-nauseum and tweeting the resulting image.

Aluminum, LCD display, water, solenoid, raspberry pi, camera, twitter account.
